A Casualties Plea

"I'm frightened and in pain. PLEASE......."

  1. Treat me as a person not just as an injury.
  2. Talk to me and listen to what I have to say.
  3. Remember my hearing is the last sense to go and the first to return if I become unconscious.
  4. Call me by name.
  5. Reassure me - kind words a sympathetic touch.
  6. Be aware of my modesty.
  7. Be aware of my comfort - the glare of the sun on a hot day, lying on a cold, wet surface. So easy to alleviate.
  8. Don't discuss problems in front of me - I trust you and have confidence that you can help me - don't destroy my faith.
  9. Treat me gently but firmly.
  10. Be honest but tactful with me.
  11. Warn me of what you are about to do - I'll be ready for the discomfort.
  12. Try to shield me from horrific sights.
  13. Let me find my own comfortable position.
  14. Let me help myself if I can.
  15. Get someone to sit and comfort me.
  16. Try and understand how I feel.
  17. And Please, Please don't leave me if I am dying.
