The New first aid training, will commence in mid 2007 and hopefully complete within the next 4 years.

The London fire Brigade has always endeavoured to put all of their front line staff through first aid training, and this “next step” in enhanced first aid training skills can only be a step in the right direction.

Fire engineThe first aid instructors firstly complete an intensive 2 week first aid training trainer course with the London ambulance service. This first aid training course goes into greater depth than the old style first aid trainer course, and even includes operational hands on experience riding with professional ambulance paramedics.

The bulk of the front line fire fighting staff should commence their enhanced first aid training in May 07 after a pilot course runs in April 07.

First aid training for non uniformed staff within the LFB will still be run as the traditional first aid at work courses, covering the normal HSE FAAW first aid training syllabus.
