First Aid at Work Courses

The First Aid at Work Courses covers the following areas:

• Dealing with accidents and illness;
• Using a First Aid kit;
• Keeping simple records;
• Resuscitation;
• Treatment of an unconscious casualty;
• First Aid at Work Courses Choking;
• Heart attacks;
• Bleeding;
• Burns and scalds;
• Poisoning;
• Fractures;
• And Shock.

When the 3 years is nearly expired, if the First Aider wishes to continue with their position, they must attend a First Aid Training course called \\\'First Aid at Work Re-qualification\\\'. This course lasts 2 days and aims to cover all the areas covered on the First Aid at Work Training course, with time to revise and practice. Again, upon successful completion of a practical skills test, you will receive a certificate stating your competency to be the First Aider at work, which, again, lasts 3 years. Please note, if your certificate has already expired, you will be required to attend the full 4 day First Aid at Work training course.

In addition, the First Aider can, at any time during the 3 years of qualification, attend an update or practice First Aid Training course. This involves simulated casualties in realistic First Aid situations.

An \\\'Appointed Person\\\' is a person who will provide support to a First Aider, or is the nominated person in the workplace to take charge in the event of an accident or illness, where the company is relatively small and of low risk. The course lasts 4 hours, or 1 day, and is assessed continuously by the First Aid Trainer. Upon successful completion of the course, the Appointed Person is awarded a certificate valid for 3 years.
