3 Year Old Saves 1 year Old Sister From Choking
3 yr old Jay Titmus saved his 1 year old sister from choking when he recognised what was happening and rendered emergency first aid.
The baby was sick whilst lying on her back which event was missed by the mother. Jay rolled over his sister Jodi and scooped the sick out of her mouth so that she could breathe. Jay knew what to do because he likes to watch the TV programme Little Miracles which is based on a children's hospital in Toronto.
Councillor Jim Rogers has said that he would like to be able to arrange for Jay to meet Belfast's Lord Mayor Pat McCarthy and it is hoped that some form of award can be given.
Choking is a serious matter for children and for adults and it is not uncommon for fatalities to be the outcome. We have all heard stories of people choking to death on their vomit. ASTS runs specialist lifesaver courses on first aid for babies and children. Click here - Lifesave Courses for Babies & Children.
