Asthma Attacks- What to do
RECOGNITION

Difficulty in Breathing

Wheezing

Difficulty in speaking

PRECAUTIONS

Do not lay casualty down

Do not use a preventer inhaler

If casualty falls unconscious be prepared to commence CPR

ACTION

Make casualty comfortable & encourage them to breathe slowly

Allow casualty to use their reliever inhaler (usually blue)

If attack severe or casualties first. Tell them to inform GP.

NOTE: If the inhaler has no effect after 5 to 10 minutes, Dial 999 and request attendance of an ambulance
