Help Save a Life

Have you got the time?
600 seconds is what you have

When a heart attack occurs it normally doesn’t happen when you are near a hospital and can happen at any time at any place and any where.

When the heart attack strikes it could occur in the home, in the street, the local shop at the check out, the shopping mall, in your car, at your workplace in fact virtually anywhere and for any number of reasons and usually without any prior warning.

What are you going to do to save that life?
  • If you a trained first aider then you can help the casualty and apply CPR
  • Call the Trained First Aider to the scene if you have one in your workplace
  • Call 999 Emergency Services and wait…tick…tock…tick…tock

If you are lucky enough to have a trained First Aider in your work place that is available and can perform CPR then hopefully they can revive the heart attack victim within minutes and then anxiously await the arrival of the Ambulance and Emergency Services.

If you’re not lucky enough to have a trained first aider then you must first phone 999 for help and stand by and wait….and wait….and wait

How much time can you wait?

The UK government states that Ambulance services EMS Target time to reach the scene is within 8 minutes however the reality is more like 15 minutes especially in London inner cities as well as remote locations – see the BBC News items

EMS [Ambulance Response Times]

Extract from a US Police office of media and public relations

Sudden cardiac arrest is the single leading cause of death in the U.S., striking about 1,000 Americans each day. Whether victims survive sudden death depends on how quickly they can be defibrillated. The shorter the time from collapse to defibrillation, the better the chances of survival. If defibrillation is delayed for more than 10 minutes, survival rates drop to virtually zero. Source

Why wait for the EMS [Emergency Medical Services] to arrive when you can actually do something positive to help save a life of your work colleague, partner, friend or just a stranger.

By using a portable defibrillator within minutes you can actually save a life, all you have to do is follow the simple audible instructions which virtually anyone could do without any previous first aid training. Implementation of the allocation of portable defibrillators in shopping malls and public places in America has dramatically improved SCA survival rates from less than 20% to over 65%

The most important factor of survival is TIME and the quicker you can jump start the heart back to life the better the chances of survival improves for the casualty and if you wait for 10 minutes or more then the chances of survival virtually disappear.

The Government Time targets are becoming increasingly impossible for the Emergency Services to meet especially with increasing traffic congestion in inner cities and in rural remote areas which are particularly vulnerable.

This problem has been compounded by the added problem in Hoax calls and non emergency 999 calls being made to divert an already over stretched emergency service. All the more reason for you to take responsibility for your own live saving capabilities and help save the life of your employees, family members or neighbours by installing a portable defibrillator in your home, factory or office and help your local emergency services and help save lives instead of waiting by the door for the ambulance to arrive on the scene.

Help the NHS and the EMS to save life by helping yourself and saving a life today, it’s easier than you think and portable defibrillation is something you can do without any prior first aid training so don’t think you need to be qualified. These new technologically advanced defibrillators are as easy to use as ABC with clear audible simple instructions will guide you through the life saving process and will deliver sufficient shock to jump start the heart back to life and continue monitoring the patient whilst you await the arrival of the emergency services.

A small lightweightportable defibrillators to enable ordinary persons as well as trained professionals to monitor and deliver essential live saving shock treatment to heart attack patients.

To save a life you need to deliver a defibrillator shock to the casualty’s heart as soon as possible preferably within 5 minutes. If you can do this by using a portable defibrillator then the chances of survival increase dramatically.

Conventional emergency first aid manual treatment of CPR [manual compressions of the chest cavity and breath resuscitation techniques] on its own has a low survival rate of less than 20%. Incidences where quick electric defibrillation has been used in America has shown a dramatic increase in survival rates to over 65%.

You need to do more and you need to do something positive if you want to save life and not become a bystander as the casualty is dieing waiting for help. Don’t think it won’t happen to you as you could be the casualty that needs a life saving shock from a portable defibrillator.
